Best wishes for 2023! And all the energy in the world to explore the neighborhoods located away from the city centre in order to enjoy the true magic of Barcelona.
One would think this El Parc i la Llacuna del Poblenou bar is decked for Xmas. It is actually its “regular” all-year-round style.
The Capital city is ever more beautiful this time of year. During the day, streets and stores are decked to the nines, and at night twinkling lights convert Barcelona into an enchanted galaxy.
Located in the Provençals del Poblenou neighborhood, La Escocesa used to be a textile factory. It is being refurbished from top to bottom, and is a haven for emerging artists.
This facade is typical of middle-class buildings of the “Catalan Manchester” period, when El Poblenou was a neighborhood dedicated to the textile industry.
People who live in the El Poblenou neighborhood have no reason to go “downtown”. They have everything at hand: restaurants, supermarkets, organic food stores, cafés, fashion boutiques, and much more.
In Barcelona, beach bars are very popular, like the ones on the Sant Sebastià beach located in the La Barceloneta neighborhood.
Sgraffito decorations are typical of Barcelona’s buildings. Some are quite plain, and represent geometric shapes or flowers, others are more intricate like garlands, medallions, etc.
The markets of the Capital city carry the best Catalan deli food ever, like the Santa Caterina one, located in the Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera neighborhood.
